What i took out of the Spring game was...

...Shane has made progress. Not leaps and bounds, but seemed to have a decent feel out there. He threw some bad throws, but he also threw some really good throws. I think the stat line was right, the drop pick cancels out the should have been caught pick. There was a few bad drops, and the WR's need to get better. That being said, Darboh is a good player, but he needs a Drake Harris opposite him. The 2 deep balls by Shane are caught by faster receivers. Maybe he has been in the program 2.5 yrs, but there should be no argument that he has been undercoached. In 13 practices, he's looked so much better than in any of his appearances in the past. Personally, I think it's mission accomplished for Phase 1 in the Harbaugh process. He stressed Morris by not making him the first QB taken (and yes, maybe im wrong for thinking this, but I think it was by design), and making him win the right to be called the #1 QB heading into the fall. Remember what kind of person JH is. Comfort is not in his vocabulary. Think of his past quotes like, "I want to see their intent", and recently "stress is a life giving energy" (im paraphrasing here). It wouldn't not surprise me at all if he wanted to see how Morris would react under adversity, and would he rise or sulk to the challenge. Make no mistake, SM is in a dogfight when the other QB's get here, but he was successful at establishing himself first.

I hold firm on my prediction about Rudock. He will be the best thing that will ever happen to Shane. Shane knows, its now or never for him, if he really wants to be a QB at the University of Michigan. He has a NFL arm, and I think JH knows that. Now its on The QB Whisperer to harness and develop it.
