show some promise but let's be honest these guys have a tremendous amount of room to improve.
If this staff can get both of these guys to ONLY improve on defense then things are going to be okay.
Take a look at only Irvin. I don't want to come across as just bashing Irvin because it's more than just him. It's JB and others. Irvin in my mind is playing style wise almost exactly as how I have wanted him to play for a couple of years. He drives to the basket and does some pull up jumpers but just today he shot the ball 18 times and made approx 35% of them?
It's almost impossible to win against a quality team when ONE guy (any guy...insert Burke or MJ or Kobe if you must) shoots 35% with 18 shots.
The only reason UM won this game today was because Walton got hot at the end and Nebraska was missing Morrow. Maybe this is more on JB who allows a guy to shoot that many times at that %. I also see UM not having a shooting guard as a problem but bottom line is that you subtract a guy who is shooting such a low % consistently on a high volume of shots then you will improve automatically even removing other variables like turnovers and defense.
I just see UM better next year so people may want to step back from the ledge.
