What Harbaugh would like to say, but rightfully won't

A couple of ideas:
  • The trackrecord supports that Harbaugh and his staff are certainly among the top quartile, if not top decile, of coaching talent
  • The observations I see on these boards regarding play of the different units are certainly not surprises or revelations to the coaches. For example, they clearly see that the pass protection is horrible
  • What Harbaugh would like to say to all of us and the press is that he understands the problems but he momentarily lacks the personnel in certain areas to compete with the best teams in the country. You would all pounce on such statements and they would be also be demoralizing and unfair to the team whose players are performing to their capabilities.
  • For example, with a unit like offensive line, it is probably tough for the nation's best programs to recruit and maintain five top notch players. OSU, for example, has had challenges here as well. This challenge is exacerbated at Michigan due to the lingering weakness of the unit since Rich Rod radically transformed the line's style of play, recruiting misses and defections under Hoke, and an unfortunate injury to Newsome who had been playing at a good level. We should all be most happy that this young man didn't lose his limb
  • There is some talent freshmen on the roster such as Caesar Ruiz etc so we should see improvement with the Oline
  • Let's look at QB, I am skeptical that any quarterback can perform well given the condition of the OLine. And, again, it is not revelation to Harbaugh who was a heisman finalist as a QB and has successfully coached college and NFL QBs that O'Korn is mediocre at best. Any average college coach, not to mention one with Harbaugh's experience, would be able to determine whether O'Korn or Peters is the better solution. I believe I read from Balas that Peters currently lacks the leadership and maturity. In the bigger picture, the amorphous nature of recruiting makes unforeseen situations like this understandable. I mean how can a coach really know how a 17/18 old kid will perform in front of 112,000 fans that are merciless like all of us.
  • Michigan might never be an Alabama, OSU, or Clemson, but I bet we do great things under Harbaugh and possibly win a national championship.
  • As a Michigan alum with undergraduate and graduate degrees, I am proud to say that we are first recognized as a great academic institution that also has a great football program. And, most importantly, our wins, the most in college football, were achieved under an umbrella complete integrity and honor.
