I have been hearing a lot of Sparties say that recruiting rankings don't matter. Did they already forget what Alabama did to them? Maybe the result of that game wasn't a talent issue? Help me out here.
What do you make of MSU fans not caring about recruiting?

They cared a lot early this cycle when it appeared their class wasn't going to suck. At that point, recruiting mattered.
Exactly! They are a funny bunch. Weren't some of their recruits dubbing their class "The Dream Team" or some ridiculous label like that?
Newton settled this one years ago. It was a corollary to his law of gravitation. X = 1/(Y^2). Recruiting rankings "matter" inversely with one's favorite team's rank squared.

Nothing says "dream team" like a class ranked in the mid twenties.
What a stupid idea by Mike D'antoni.
They don't care when they get out-recruited, they DO care when they land a stud. Apparently Valenti touched on this on his show within the last few days, and was talking about how developing unheralded kids can definitely help, you're not going to beat the Alabamas of the world on any sort of regular basis with a bunch of 2 and 3* kids. So, at least SOME of them get it.
Trollenti is a complete hypocrite on this! If he really said that, then that's a complete 180 from his normal daily rant about it. The only reason he would say that is because he's afraid like the rest of his sparty brethren because Harbaugh is cleaning Mike Dicktino's clock in recruiting. Recruiting has NEVER mattered to him over the past 7 years......Until Now!
I would have to assume it was more about the absolute beatdown they took from Alabama, but who knows.
