I'm making a list of my all-time favorites, and have come up with these below:
“My heart is so full at this moment, I fear I could say little else. But do let me reiterate the Spirit of Michigan. It is based upon a deathless loyalty to Michigan and all her ways. An enthusiasm that makes it second nature for Michigan Men to spread the gospel of their university to the world’s distant outposts. And a conviction that nowhere, is there a better university, in any way, than this Michigan of ours.” — Fielding H. Yost
"There runs through the core of all Michigan activities both on and off this campus a certain intangible thing — we call it ‘The Great Michigan Spirit.’ Maybe you can relate to it if I tell you it's the atmosphere that permeates that stadium out there every Saturday afternoon in the fall, when over 100,000 fans patiently wait to see whether Bo Schembechler is going to continue his winning ways. You know what I mean — you can feel the excitement, the tension, the charisma that surrounds that stadium every Saturday afternoon! Especially 10 to 14 minutes before kickoff, when a hush settles over that stadium and we all anxiously wait for that simple four-word command to emanate out of the P.A. system. I can hear it now — ‘Band, take the field!’ And out of that eastern tunnel pour 215 well-drilled, well-disciplined Michigan bandsmen. They pour over the eastern sideline, they form the big block M and they play the greatest college fight song ever written — The Michigan Victors! That's when the chills go up and down your spine, you get goose pimples all over, your blood turns maize and blue and everybody out there becomes part of the winningest tradition in the history of Big Ten football, as well as the winningest tradition in the history of Big Ten athletics!” — Bob Ufer
“When you take the field, I represent the millions of Michigan Wolverines out there who live and die with you, and understand that win or lose, you do it with grace and honor and dignity. People in the Big Ten community look around and look at us, and they call it arrogance. And I say, ‘You bet!’ You bet it’s arrogance, because you know what we have is special. They may be victors, but we are victors valiant. That’s the difference, that’s the Michigan Way!” — Rich Eisen
What other good ones am I missing?
