What if both you and us beat OSU....but we each lose to Penn State? I know seems unlikely....but...

I see a 4 way tie for 1st place in the East Division. OSU, UM, MSU and PSU all at 6-2.

It could be very interesting how the tie breaker works in that scenario.

OSU would be 1-2 vs the other 3. MSU 2-1. PSU 2-1. and UM 1-2. That would put MSU and PSU subject to the next tiebreaker of who is ranked higher. I would imagine MSU would get the nod unless PSU blows 'em out....but win or lose the B1G East Champion will not be going to the Final 4, even if they win the B1G. In that scenario only Iowa would have a shot if they win the B1G.

Think about it. PSU's 2 point loss to Northwester...late....could be huge. They could've won the B1G with MSU and OSU wins over OSU and wins over us. Again...I'd be surprised...but it would've been possible.

What if Iowa loses at Nebraska in the final week? They still look like the West Div. representative. Then win the B1G? Does the B1G have a representative in the Final 4?

For me.....ANYBODY BUT MEYER! Obviously I want it to be MSU....but I never want Meyer. Ever.

In your scenario, Penn State would represent the East in the BTCG, and it wouldn't be left to the playoff rankings.

From the Big Ten tiebreaker rules, "If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative."

So, as you say, the records in the games between the division champs would be compared (with MSU & PSU 2-1 and UM & OSU 1-2), which would eliminate UM and OSU, and since PSU beat MSU, they would go to the BTCG.

Mercy....pity us all if that turns out to be.

If that happens, we will have earned it. The PSU/MSU game, being played at 3:30 PM ET, would be for the B1G East Championship.

True, but you would have also benefitted from a tremendous flop by OSU, losing both this week to 13 pt underdog MSU and next week to underdog UM.

Of the 16 possible combinations for the U-M/PSU, MSU/OSU, OSU/U-M and PSU/MSU games ..... NONE of them would have a different B1G East Champion had Penn State defeated Northwestern.

Things are different as regards the MSU loss to Nebraska. Take that away and a MSU victory Saturday clinches the B1G East. But that's not now the case.
