For those that do not find this interesting or say, “Meh, it is UF”, well, move on.
Trask was rated by Rivals as a 2-star HS QB. 247 was a little more generous, giving him a 3-star rating.
Trask struggled to stay on the UF roster as a QB.
He has creeped to the top, starting today for UF vs. Ole Miss. The guy looked really, really crisp. So “what’s the point?”
Apparently there is life on a good D-1 college football team at QB for a 2-star guy due to (a)dogged work and innate ability, AND/OR (b)good QB coaching.
I have not been bashful about my football fondness of Dan Mullen. I think the guy “has things goin’ on.” And this is from a guy that is an alum of FSU (decidedly NOT a Gator fan). Gotta give Mullen kudos though.
Among other positions, I am going to take particular interest in Joe Milton this year. Both he and DMac were High School rated HIGHER than this Trask kid. A LOT higher.
I think that one of the great things about college football is seeing these “success stories” develop- e.g. guys out of HS rated 2-star making it in major D-1 schools.
Michigan has had numerous guys of that description. Just as discouraging as it is to see high 4-star/5-star guys underperform, it is really great to see guys exceed their rankings. Hoping Joe M is the latter.
