Michigan comes back from a 0-3 deficit to defeat Minnesota 5-4 in overtime, their first overtime victory of the season after losing their first two chances.

The first period seemed fairly even as both teams had chances, goaltenders came up with the saves, and nobody scored. Michigan got some real good pressure in the final minutes of the period, but just couldn't get the puck past the Minnesota goaltender.

The second period started out dreadfully for Michigan. Minnesota just beat them about the head and shoulders for the first 10ish minutes of the period in every phase of the game as they built a 3-0 lead. Michigan finally started to wake up and slowly crawled their way back into the game, scoring two goals in the final 10 minutes to end the period trailing by just one, 2-3.

The third was a wild and wooly affair as Michigan scored just over three minutes into the third to tie the game at 3. Just over 30 seconds later Minnesota would answer to once again take the lead 4-3. About 3 to 4 minutes later Michigan would score their second of the period to once again tie the game at 4 and that's how regulation time would end, Michigan 4 Minnesota 4.

The overtime period was back and forth for the first couple of minutes and then with just under 2 minutes to play Minnesota was whistled for a penalty when they dragged Lockwood to the ice to prevent a break away. With just over a minute left in the overtime period Michigan would score a power play goal to win the game 5-4. Lockwood took the shot, but the puck bounced off a Minnesota player and then off Roos' head and into the net, giving Roos credit for the goal, but it was a Michigan goal and a Michigan win in overtime.

The game overall seemed pretty close between the two teams except for the 10 minute stretch to start the second when Michigan just seemed comatose. Minnesota was just schooling them to start that period, but finally Michigan shook off the coma and worked their way back into the game. Big win for Michigan against the #4 team in the country. Equally big contest tomorrow night as they try to sweep the series, but you can bet Minnesota will bring everything they have to try and split the weekend series.

No kidding - way to go boys. Last year we would have lost this game by like 6-1.

I couldn't figure out why Mel wanted Roos on the roster, but he is delivering.

Yea, it's pretty hard to feel like last year after they went down 3-0 the game would have just spiraled out of control. This year they didn't let it get into their heads and crawled their way back into the game. They still make a lot of those bad mistakes here and their, but they are getting better at mitigating them and playing a better brand of hockey.
