Since we are waiting for football to start I'll pull out an old story that some of you may enjoy.
Mid morning January 1, 1989. I was invited by former Michigan player from the 50's, Russ Osterman, to his house in Alta Dena for a pre Rose Bowl party. Russ played end in 1951 and was now the President of Pankow Construction. His home was spectacular with a cascading water fall through the middle. I wandered around talking with many former players but ended up out on a west facing deck at one of the bar set ups. There was a woman with long flowing blond hair standing next to me and when she smiled at me I knew right away it was Barbara Eden. I was taken by Jeannie's good looks and immediately stepped backward, while saying hello. In doing so, I stepped on the person behind me and what transpired was interesting, weird and wonderful. The person I stepped on was Lawrance Kasdan. For the next 15 minutes I had an incredible conversation. My brain said I should talk to Kasdan as he was famous for The Big Chill, Body Heat, and the Indiana Jones movies. My heart said I should talk to Eden because of all the boyhood fantasies I had watching her. Barbara was effectively retired only doing cameos but still looked awesome. She wasn't sure if she was going to the game or not as she had a full calendar. Kasdan wanted much more to talk about Bo and football than answer my ( probably asked 1000 times) questions about his movies. It was a really fun game day and the best part about it was later Michigan thumped USC in the Rose Bowl and I got to see the old man lite a victory cigar.
