Like everyone, but I am really starting to look at things at what we have are deep, deep issues. We have seen them for years, clock management, play calling, personnel decisions, they are there, every year. The common denominator is JH.
It’s funny because so many have made the chess vs checkers reference. I would say it is perfectly clear to me, especially with Brown, he can only play checkers. He doesn’t know how to play chess, and we are losing a game of chess trying to play checkers. We never out coach, Out scheme teams, never. It is always better players, or game over.
When I look at our players, I see a lot of decent talent, now we have some speed, but you know what we don’t have, power, size. We have swung the pendulum way too far the other way. We look small. We got manhandled by MSU today. It wasn’t even close with regards to physicality.
We are a gimmick defensive team, slowly becoming a gimmick offensive team. Personally I think the offense had to happen but we still have the exact same issue, stacked box that we can’t make teams pay for.
Why is OSU so good? Of course, talent, but they are great because that talent can play a power style game still, and they have a coaching staff that puts them in position to win.
We don’t. It’s sad. I want nothing more than for JH to succeed here, but more than ever, that elephant may be taking the last breaths out of everyone from the weight. It’s there. It’s always been there.
