I have long been of the mind that the UM Football fan has a warped sense of worth with regards to this program and where it stands in relation to the college football elite. (NOTE - I am guilty on all counts for this accusation as I consider UM part of College Football Royalty).

It wondering - but if the CFP was around back when Bo was coaching, how many playoffs would they have made. The answer was much higher than I was expecting.

Using the basic premise of a top 4 ranking going INTO the bowl game, UM would have played in 10 (possibly 11) CFP's in 38 years. I didn't think it would have been nearly that high.

By Coach:

Bo would have played in 5 (possibly 6). 1971 (4th), 1976 (2nd), 1977 (4th), 1986 (4th) and 1989 (3rd). The "possibly" was 1974. His undefeated and 3rd ranked UM lost to OSU 12 - 10, but ended year #3.

Mo would have played in 1. 1991 (4th)

Lloyd would have played in 3. 1997 (1st), 2003 (4th), and 2006 (3rd).

By Year:

1969 (7th)
1970 (9th - no bowl)
1971 (4th)
1972 (6th - no bowl)
1973 (6th - no bowl)
1974 (3rd - no bowl)
1975 (5th)
1976 (2nd)
1977 (4th)
1978 (5th)
