Come on, let's enjoy the ridiculous victory and not get ahead of ourselves in crowning a new starter.
You just want time to work on spelling Speight...honestly, Jake is mediocre, but one nice drive does not persuade me you yank him as a starter.

But actually Jake has had more than enough opportunity to demonstrate how good he can be, and he just isn't good enough to beat the better teams. We're past the point of diminishing returns in the value he can provide.
I do appreciate all he's done for the team. At this point I'd trade a loss before the TUOS game to get Speight ready for a legit chance to beat TUOS!

Yes he was. We can only guess why they really want to redshirt Morris ... with all the QBs Harbaugh is bringing in, it doesn't make sense for us ... think RM is right, they want him to transfer and save his schollie.
I hope they play Speight every down going forward ... I just want a shot at beating TUOS, just don't see it happening with Jake.
I don't think they want his scholarship, he's plenty talented, just not in terms of playing with his head. I think they wanted to get an extra year out of him and obviously Speight showed tonight that he has something Morris doesn't at this point, moxie!
Rudock is the starter but it's nice to see Speight may be able to compete for the job next year.
That 2 point conversion was a senior level play. It was big time. The TD throw wasn't too shabby but back to back All Big Ten plays.
I wouldn't be adverse to see him win Big Ten player of the week for just those two plays. Remember...they were from a scrub. How many completed passes had he thrown before those two plays...2 or 3? Had to read the defense and looked like Tom Brady.
Where did those passes come from? Just think of Navarre and Bellomy in their first games..tell me how they looked on the road.

Bellomy looked like the worst QB I've ever seen at any level. That is another indictment of Clappy and his idiot staff.
You know what is funny about Hoke? He actually thinks he is a top 20 coach. Have to give him credit. He is quite the salesman. Half the battle at the coaching level is to convince AD's that you can win big.
I am starting to think Hoke is a pretty clever guy. He is a con artist on some level. He is so out of his league coaching big time football. Hoke has to know now just by looking at UM just how much better they look. I don't buy that Hoke is completely stupid. He may be delusional but something tells me he does understand he is ill equipped to coach a big time program but he just doesn't care and will say anything to get another big time job.

So the back-up QB goes 3-6 for 29 yards and you're ready to give him the starting job? How does a 6-6 record sound? If this team could run the ball just a
little better against decent defenses, we would be 8-0 right now WITH Rudock.
If we had the least the threat of a downfield passing game with Rudock ... we could run the ball just a little better against decent defenses.
So you're saying Speight is going to give us the downfield passing game? Rudock is starting for a reason this season. Maybe next year we can
put into a different gear.
AGP. My two faves from Clappy were pronouncing himself a "helluva coach", and his excuse that you need 5-6 years to " build a program". Both completely wrong, but he sounds like he has convinced himself they're accurate.
Also wonder why Rawls, one of his "115 sons", couldn't get on the field but is having a nice NFL career.
You know Rudock looked decent, very decent on intermediate throws last night, which makes me think his issues are more with timing and play familiarity.
If he hasn't got those issues covered yet this deep into the season, doubtful it's going to happen.
What I'm saying is he played a decent game and contued to improve. He's far from the ideal QB but he hasn't horribly disappointed save the Utah game.
I don't know why Morris transferring is necessarily the case. He could have agreed on a redshirt to bank the extra season.
I'd really like to see Speight start the next two to prepare for the last two and the bowl, as well as the future. Lot more potential value for the Program in doing so.
