This coming Sunday, UCF basketball will be different than UM's previous three games. Former UM player, A Dawkins transferred to UCF to play for his father, J Dawkins but he graduated last season. UCF, the last few years has been a quality BB program. This years version continues that trend. Their first game with the University of Oklahoma was canceled. They beat Auburn 65-58. Typical of a Dawkins team, they did it with defense. UCF held Auburn to 32% field goal shooting and had 12 steals.
For UM, defending UCF's guards will be the challenge. UCF had three guards play 36, 35, 24 minutes. (Their starting point guard did not play because of injury.) against Auburn. With that amount of minutes, UCF played a lot of a three guard line ups. Those three guards are 6'5, 6'4, 6'5 respectively. Brooks is 6'1, Smith is 5'11 but looks shorter than that. Jackson is 6'5. Both team's forwards are similar in size. UCF does have two centers, 7'1 and 6'11 but they were not a factor in the Auburn game.
It will be fun watching both team's countering moves.
