TV rights money - conference tournament question

Does anyone know the answer to the following question, or have a good guess at the answer: If a team does not participate in their conference BB tourney because of a COVID shutdown, would they forfeit their allocation of TV money from their conference tourney? I'm curious about a decision made recently by a bottom feeder, non-power conference school. I was just told something about a perplexing decision at a school that I have a loose affiliation with that I'm trying to reconcile, and if they would lose their allocation by not being able to play in their tournament, then a bunch of dots connect in what I was told. (unrelated to Michigan, B10, or any school anyone else on here cares about!)
