Stories...yes these are anecdotal, as they require actual real-life examples and NOT some stuff I came up with inside my head.

Just dropping articles with synopses as they are written, with the head-lines in tact and linked so that they can be read then IN CONTEXT.

Georgia football loses another 5-star to transfer portal
16 Bulldogs have entered the portal to date, three of which are former five-star recruits: Harris, outside linebacker Marvin Jones Jr. and quarterback Brock Vandagriff (Kentucky).

USC Football: Another Former Five-Star Recruit Enters Transfer Portal

Former five-star recruit (and the top-ranked recruit in the class of 2021) Korey Foreman is entering the transfer portal. Foreman was the crowned jewel of USC's 2021 recruiting class, but never really panned out as many had hoped.
Foreman joins a pair of fellow former five-star recruits, cornerback Domani Jackson and quarterback Malachi Nelson, who number among a slew of Trojans who've entered the transfer portal.

Evan Stewart enters transfer portal: Former five-star WR's announcement is latest hit to Texas A&M roster

Texas A&M wide receiver Evan Stewart has entered the transfer portal. The former No. 6 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class (according to 247Sports) is the latest in a series of highly-touted Texas A&M players to enter the portal, marking yet another roster hit after the program parted ways with coach Jimbo Fisher in November. Stewart ranks as the No. 2 overall player available in the transfer portal rankings behind former teammate Walter Nolen.

LT Overton -- another top player from the Aggies 2022 recruiting class -- committed to Alabama Tuesday. Other Texas A&M players to enter the portal this cycle include quarterback Max Johnson, tight end Jake Johnson and edge rusher Fadil Diggs.

Even though things haven’t been going well for Ohio State, it’s not time to panic... but it might be soon

The Buckeyes have seen 14 players enter their names in the transfer portal, including starting quarterback Kyle McCord, first-team wide receiver Julian Fleming, and semi-starting running back Chip Tayanum. While the rest of the transfers were mostly depth pieces who had already been passed by younger guys, the fact that 16.5% of your scholarship roster — not factoring in guys who are exhausting their eligibility this season — are choosing to continue their college careers elsewhere is at least a little bit concerning.

Including the possible (probable) pro entries, OSU could lose close to 1/3 of its roster from this season.

Multiple Gators Announce Departure Through Transfer Portal
Former five-star safety Kamari Wilson officially entered the portal on Monday. Wilson, a 6-foot, 205-pound defensive back was a standout from IMG Academy in the 2022 recruiting class. He committed to Florida over Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M and FSU and was one of Napier’s first big signings after he was hired to be head coach for the Gators.

To add to the list of players entering the portal, sophomore defensive lineman Chris McClellan announced his decision to transfer on Monday. McClellan, a 6-foot-3, 320-pound lineman was a top-rated prospect out of high school in 2022, being rated No. 1 in Oklahoma and No. 90 in the nation.

Other Gators to Enter the Portal

  • Jalen Farmer, Redshirt Freshman, OL.
  • Max Brown, Redshirt Freshman, QB.
  • Andrew Savaiinaea, Redshirt Freshman, TE.
  • Will Norman, Freshman, DL.
  • Caleb Douglas, Sophomore, WR.
  • Keenan Landry, Redshirt Sophomore, DL.
  • Adam Mihalek, Redshirt Sophomore, K.
  • Jonathon Odom, Redshirt Junior, TE.
  • Carlson Joseph, Redshirt Sophomore, RB
  • Jordan Herman, Redshirt Sophomore, OL
  • Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman, Sophomore, WR
Notice that these are almost ALL freshman, RS frosh, and sophs transferring.

Do those who calculate class rankings go back and RE-calculate those classes based on portal losses of players who have yet to have good career production?

I will follow with a great example to show how the portal without any doubt should be factored into recruiting rankings and future rosters as if it's a consistently changing thing, vs the static rankings some make it out to be.
