My thoughts by Mr. Wolverine.
Offense: I liked the play calling for the most part. Really pleased with offensive line, while only few false starts the crowd noise did not seem to be a factor with us. See PSU vs Iowa for crowd causing PSU OL lots problems. Got decent push and though RB ran and blocked well. Is it me or does Corum look just a tad slower than he did earlier in the year. Does not seem to have that same explosive burst, just me?? Haskins did well and the Hurdle!! loved it! Cade played well and I want you guys to go watch the INT, THAT WAS ON THE TE! He stopped his route and the safety finished the route for him. If he continues running the safety would never had been able to cross his face, he would have run into him either causing interference or TE catches it for nice gain. That was on the TE. I was positive Nebraska was off-sides on that play as well, but no call. WR's well unfortunately we just do not have a Alexander, Terrell or Braylon. Very inconsistant group who needs a full time coach. SAINS with amazing catch, then the endzone drop by Baldwin. Johnson and Baldwin need to call Junior Hemingway on how to use big frame to go get passes, none of them GO GET THE BALL. Gattis I thought did a good job with the play calling and had a nice pass/run mix. Getting McCarthy some run was just fine! We scored more 30 again vs good defense and we need to keep it going with maybe second half season aim for 35+ even vs good defenses, only way to beat "you know who".
Defense: Little disappointed with the pass rush, but I am wondering if that was toned down to keep lanes and Martinez in the pocket. We just could not get to him in time. First half was great and odd, still trying to figure out why Nebraska ran very little option until second half? Saving it, not allowing us to make adjustments? Weird. Second half they start the misdirection and it worked, REAL WELL, I was upset about our safeties in all these easy passes. We did not make Martinez earn it, all big plays. We also wore down just like Rutgers but credit, we again made plays, Nihil-Green last week, Hawkins this week, just like Rutgers! Thats what has been missing from past teams, MAKING A BIG PLAY IN BIG MOMENT! Most of us grew up watching Michigan do that routinely! Tia Streets vs OSU, Walkers catch vs Iowa, Woodsons INT vs MSU! We are used to jumping offsides on a punts on 4th and 5, which is exactly what Cade ment in his post game comments.
Special Teams: MOODY enough said. I returned punts for my high school team and once you turn your shoulder and head to find the ball you HAVE TO LET IT GO! Henning can't do that simply because my heart can't take that!
Great Game! Great Win! To bad for Scotty! Lets get back to work and clean up what can be cleaned up, heal up and on to Northwestern!
