1. I look at the regions as two tournaments. So let’s look at the first tournament. We get the easiest first game. Our two possible opponents are the two worst teams on KenPom. The 8-9 teams are fine but both hugely flawed. LSU can’t defend at all—this is like Iowa on steroids—they lose everyone and my guess is they won’t have the discipline to stay with Howard’s offense. We will get a ton of open looks. But frankly I’d bet we play St.Bonny—they’re very disciplined in the half court and I think they will really frustrate LSU who will likely be hearing all week about how they can beat Michigan.
2. FSU poses some challenges but this isn’t the FSU of the last three years. They don’t defend particularly well and they still struggle to score. They’ve beaten one top 25 KenPom team all year. They lost 2/3 to GT. I think they’re the favorite toget to the Sweet 16 but it’s probably 50/50. Georgetown is really not and Colorado can score.
3. Alabama has a tough road. UConn is a real threat to them in round two. Even Iona could make them sweat. I think Texas is a really weak 3. It wouldn’t shock me at all if we saw Uconn vs Michigan State in the Sweet 16.
