MSU/Wisconsin:
- it hurts to say but Izzo has done a really nice job with MSU this year. That team has improved throughout the year and plays with good chemistry.
- Dawson has really improved. The little post up game he's developed is very effective. I think he'll find a niche in the NBA - could be a Ben Wallace type
- Trice is another kid who really improved this year. He wasn't great yesterday but he developed an ability to take it to the basket. He reminds me a little of Spike.
- I know they get the transfer from WVU (Harris) and the 5 star recruit, but I think MSU will struggle to make the tourney next year. They relied heavily on Dawson and Trice this year and lose all the production. They don't really have a point guard next year (unless Nairn develops an outside shot). As people have noted, WVU improved after Harris left . . . so we'll see how valuable he next year. I like Costello but he's largely a role player up front.
- I keep hearing about Dekker leaving early for the NBA. Can someone explain to me why he has an NBA game? His jump shot is erratic. I think his "athleticism" is vastly overrated (I can't believe how excited the announcers were about his dunk yesterday - come on, they guy is 6'8" - he should be able to dunk easily on a drive). I just don't see it. Frankly, I think Nigel Hayes is a far better NBA prospect than Dekker . . . and maybe Dukin also. Valentine from MSU also a better NBA prospect. Way more skilled.
- Koenig is really good - going to be one of the top 5-10 players in the league next year.
- I don't know anything about Georgia but I can't see MSU beating Virginia. Bennett is going to have his team ready to shut down MSU's offense.
- Wisconsin looked very beatable in the B10 tourney - both UM and MSU came close. I could see them losing as early as the 2nd round.
UM next year:
- I'm very excited about this team. I think we'll have equal success whether Levert comes back enough - its just that we'll do it differently if he doesn't come back. We have the players/parts to replace him if necessary.
- I have a feeling we're going to see a huge jump from Doyle next year - both physically and skill wise. He is 18 and has a huge frame. He's going to be a load inside starting next year. And he has good feet for a post up game. Think we'll also see him start doing some pick and pop next year.
- Other guys who I expect to make big leaps: Walton, Dawkins and Chatman. Walton is going to be hungry after missing so much time . . . and the fact that Spike could push him for minutes will also be a motivator.
- D.J. Wilson could be an x factor. What I want to see from him is shot blocking and rebounding. Hope he fills out a bit after an offseason with Sanderson.
- The offseason pickup games should be great. Basically, we have at least 10 guys who have the talent to start in the B10. Great competition.
- I really expect that next year will be Beilein's best team at UM so far.
