*** Shortly after arriving in Boston yesterday, I made my way over to see former Rivals100 recruit and 2021 Michigan tight end signee Louis Hansen at a private workout. The first thing that stood about Hansen was his size. He added a lot of good weight in his lower half and looks ready to play now. In fact, Hansen is now 6-5, 247 pounds — up 15 pounds from my last visit to New England. Hansen has changed up his diet and has also been working at Tom Brady's facility in Foxboro. The offseason working that he's putting in is really paying off. He should make an early impact in Michigan's tight end room.

*** The biggest question with Hansen may be: Will he be able to maintain his speed with the added weight? Hansen was running a low 4.7 prior to the weight gain. It was tough to answer that question after the workout. Hansen has been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury for about a month now. It was clear there was still some tightness and that he was favoring the leg with the issue. If the answer to the question is yes then once fully healthy, Hansen should be a terrific add to the U-M roster. He has the size and strength to be an in-line blocker but also excels as a pure pass catcher when split out wide.

*** While not an early enrollee, Hansen knows the tight end depth chart is pretty thin and is excited to compete for early playing time as soon as he gets to campus in June. Hansen has the size, the football IQ, the smarts off the field and is a natural pass catcher. Throughout the session, Hansen showed off his excellent catch radius, body control and hands as a receiver. Again, I think it just comes down to speed at the size he's at now. I would love to see what he looks like before the end of spring when he's at 100 percent. I feel like Hansen isn't talked about as much as he should be talked about. He was highly rated for a reason and is a complete player at the tight end position.
