- I don't remember ever seeing the stadium look so electric. And it looked like the fans never took their foot off the gas all night. That's a rarity for our crowd.
- When your eleven best players on offense are either running backs or offensive linemen, you're going to run the ball a lot
- It was great to see 150+ yards from both Haskins and Corum. With that being said, I don't want to see those guys each running the ball 20 times/game (plus Corum returning kicks) because it will take a toll on their bodies. I want to see more Edwards.
- Where are the people who were screaming at the coaches for malpractice for giving Vastardis the starting job? Probably the same ones scared sh-tless that he's now hurt.
- I do have my concerns about the passing game. Our pass blocking doesn't look nearly as good as our run blocking. Our receivers didn't seem to be getting open. Cade is small so he needs a lot of room to see the field and get the ball lover the line of scrimmage. I understand Harbaugh saying there was little reason to get away from a successful run game but we still had to convert multiple 3rd down plays on many of our long drives. It's tough to consistently do this. We will have to be able to spread the ball around more because teams will learn how to shut down our run game.
- Johnson had that one good long catch. But it was kind of strange that he gave himself up instead of being tackled (or putting his shoulder down and fighting for more yards). And that low block he got a penalty on was a very bad play - why didn't he just block normally? In general, it appeared our skilled player blocking was not good (vs. last week).
- Overall, I was very impressed with our defense. We've got a lot of speed and skill at the end, linebacker and safety positions. Our tackles seemed to hold up and push the pocket a bit. Smith and Hinton seem to be improving. How about our depth? We put our 2nd and 3rd team in at the end of the game and those fresh legs were swarming Morris. I think the D will continue to improve as the season progresses.
- Kickers often come out of nowhere. Moody looks like an All American right now.
- Kolesar returning punts tells me the staff doesn't have confidence in our skilled players being able to catch the football. He just doesn't have very good speed. That's a disappointment and surprising.
- Was Zinter playing every snap? It seemed like maybe he was being rotated.
- Did Baldwin play? I don't recall seeing him out there (but that could be because we didn't throw the ball).
- People have to adjust their expectations. This is not a playoff team. But it could be a very good team - reminiscent of some of Harbaugh's Stanford teams.
- I didn't 'understand that one player where the refs gave Washington the first down and it was overturned on replay. It looked to me like the ball was short of the stick on the measurement?
- I thought it was funny how complimentary Blackledge was of Cade running the clock down to near zero before snapping the ball late in the game.
- I love Zingerman's. Zingerman's Roadhouse is not that great. I'm not a big fan of throwing chicken into macaroni and cheese. I don't think Blackledge was allowed to say he didn't like it!
