I talked to Coach Yaklich and his wife at the Pre-Season Fan Day. I told him that his coaching was a big key to our success and that head coaching offers would come soon but he needs to stay at least two more years. I told him that he was learning offense from the best coach in the business in John Beilein.

Yaklich was modest. He said that he doubted my thoughts about the HC offers but said that he was enjoying his role on this team tremendously and would continue to be focused on our teams' success "as long as Coach Beilein wanted him to stay". A classy answer that came across as sincere from a very young guy who does not seem to be entirely comfortable with those type of compliments. What a nice person.

We are tremendously lucky to have Luke Yaklich as well as our entire Michigan Basketball coaching staff.

But why should I be surprised? John Beilein is first class and he surrounds himself with great people, coaches and players who are not only successful but who represent this great university in a manner that makes us proud, win or lose.

I am not sure that we will truly appreciate Coach Beilein for the great leader that he is until sometime down the road.

Simply put, John Beilein is a treasure.
