- the announcers kept talking about (and I hear the same from some posters here) about how much more "athletic" LSU was than us. I didn't see it. What I saw was a team with a several wing size players who have excellent scoring ability (i.e., ability to create their own shot and shoot from deep). But they weren't guys with incredible length who jumped out of the gym. They reminded me a bit of Maryland only with better scoring ability and terrible defense. They didn't dominate us with their athleticism.
- along the same lines, the announcers kept talking about how we wanted to slow the game down and make it a half court game. But that's not entirely true. We always want to push it when we can (and you heard and saw Juwan signaling for that all night). What we don't want to do is take bad shots in the transition game and then give up numbers to LSU in transition. We're happy playing a full court game so long as we're playing smart.
- Eli played lights out. I think there was a lot of question about his ball handling skills coming into this season but he's really improved that. He has become a really strong combo guard. And I think his athleticism is underrated.
- our offense is better when it doesn't stick with Hunter. Hunter did a better job of keeping the ball moving last night.
- Johns was very solid. He played aggressive and smart. His interior d is good and he's disruptive on the glass. He's going to keep getting better and he'll start hitting the 3 ball more. I hope him getting minutes and seeing his role leads to him sticking around. He would be a very valuable part of next year's team.
- Chaundee played out of his mind but he's such a streaky player there is no way we can count on anything close of that in future games. What I liked his driving the ball to the basket but a good part of that could have been LSU's matador defense.
- we knew it was a bad matchup for Smith coming into the game and it played out that way. One thing I'd like to see is us running plays to get him open for 3's. He's such a good shooter we need to try to take advantage of that.
- Did it seem like LSU just gave up at the end. We had the ball with around 30 seconds left up 8 (3 possessions). In a tourney game, don't you foul in that situation and make us make free throws. I thought it was strange that they didn't and Wade was bumping elbows with Juwan with 20 seconds left and us still dribbling.
