Is the first week that the team will at least have consistency from Sunday - Saturday. Two weeks ago Jim got suspended the day before me the game. Last week, they accepted the suspension 2 days before the game, and fired a coach the next day.
While it is certainly not ideal to have Jim “benched” this week, there will at least be no distractions coming (praise lord that’s true). The team will have one week of normalcy (new normal, that is) in preparation. Hopefully that keeps them locked in and we see a better level of execution than we have the last 2 weeks.
My only concern is the play calling. Moore seems distracted, and rightfully so, and as a result, has called a fairly bland game for two weeks straight. It’s almost like he isn’t able to 100% dial into the play calling, so he goes default mode. We will need more than that this week.
I’m hoping they recognize it internally and come up with a plan. Give some gameday play calling duties to someone else and let Moore be gatekeeper, or let someone else make the small HC decisions and let him stay locked in on the game flow.
I love the guy and I hope he is here for years to come. Hell, I hope they name him HC in waiting. I think he’s got a bright future and I don’t think you can judge him as a HC with the current circumstances. But I do think he needs less distractions on gameday.
