Oh an before you start quoting random bloggers who you follow let me share some actual stats with you:
- Gardner was a 4-star out of HS, not a 5-star like Morris, Kalis, Green, & Ty.
- Look at this all-time stats for Michigan football
Yep Gardner is pretty terrible - no question there he's just Top 3-4 for every category. He won more games as a starter then Denard. He played for arguable the worst coach in Michigan history. He played with no offensive talent - none of his players are playing in the NFL...Toussant did briefly did and Lewan is starting, and that is it! Robinson actually played with 8 kids that are playing in the NFL right now. He was coached by the 2 worst OCs and was under the regime of the worst AD of all time. Yet, that kid was overrated despite being in the Top of every category as a 2 year starter. Yep, he was terrible. If Golson was our QB we would have 2 NC, and Golson would have thrown for 100 TDs and become a 2-time Heisman winner. No doubt in my mind.
Gardner wasn't very good. Maybe against ND. Once teams figured out to contain him in the pocket...it was over. Still in denial. Yeah..Gardner was so good that is why he was drafted as a wr. Ask MSU or OSU if they would like Gardner playing qb for UM if had more eligibility.
Is Gardner a relative? Please see below for you review. Yeah...he threw for lots of yards. Tell me about his int/td ratio and his win/loss percentage as a qb. Still in denial. Do you want me to go get his int/td ratio?...or just want to show me those yardage statistics against non conference opponents.
Combines and rankingsEdit
After compiling impressive statistics as a junior, Gardner was invited to a number of combines and camps in the Summer of 2009. In June 2009, Gardner participated in the Nike camp in
Champaign, Illinois.
[10] In July 2009, Gardner participated in the Elite 11 quarterback camp at
Soka University in
Aliso Viejo, California, as one of the 12 invited quarterbacks.
[11] Gardner earned counselor awards for best footwork and work in the classroom at the Elite 11 camp.
[10] After watching Gardner perform at the Elite 11, JC Shurburtt wrote for ESPN.com that, "Gardner has also surprised many. His hustle, leadership and athleticism add up to a tremendous maturity that will help him compete early for playing time in Ann Arbor."
[11] Barry Every, national analyst for Rivals.com, ranked Gardner as the top overall quarterback at the Elite 11 camp based on long-term potential and the ability to win football games,
[10] and added, "He may not be as big or fast as current Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor, but he is a close second."
[11]
In September 2009, Gardner was ranked at the top quarterback prospect in the United States by Rivals.com.
[5][12] He was ranked as the No. 4 quarterback nationally by Scout.com and the No. 5 quarterback in the ESPNU 150.
[1][7] In November 2009, Allen Trieu of Scout.com said of Gardner:
"He is considered one of the top handful of quarterbacks in the country and is firmly entrenched as a five-star prospect. As far as upside goes, I don't see many quarterbacks that have his potential. He has improved as a passer, but I think what is overlooked is that he has gotten faster and has broken longer runs. We've also seen several times where he has put this team on his shoulders and pulled out victories in tough situations."
