Last season, Speights stats was respectable:
204 out of 331 (62%) for 2,538 yards with 18 TD and 7 INTS, plus 9 games winning streak as some would argue.
But against 4 quality opponents (Wisc, Iowa, Oh St, Fl St), Speights was only:
75 out of 132 (57%) for 704 yards with 4 TD and 5 INTS. Avg of 176 passing yards per game.
He simply didn't pass the eyes test when you watched him played these 4 games. The team struggled moving the ball.
If Michigan is going to have a great 2017 season, Speights must play better against quality opponents. Plain and simple. And the running game has to be better too. Their running game was non-existence against quality opponents.
PS - I didn't include Penn State as quality opponent because we played them early last season and they were sucky at the time we played them.
