So first off there is no way that 13 people can completely be objective especially without a set of rules to keep them accountable. Without those rules they can rank whoever they want where they want and give a BS reason as to why, and we have to go along with it.
Joel Klatt on BTN Live was saying he’d rather have the BCS system back and just keep the playoffs and while I don’t totally want just the computers, I would like the computers to have at least half a say into where teams are ranked. You can’t tell me there isn’t a bias against Harbaugh, people just dont like him, they punish his losses worse then any other team & coach esp in comparison with the SEC, as I explain below.
This years rankings are totally biased, why is it that Auburn with 2 losses are 10th miss state 18th and LSU 24th? I’ll tell you why, it’s becauee they have a bias in thinking that the SEC is a good conference. By continually ranking their “mid tier” teams in the top 25 when in reality those teams like Tex A&M, LSU, Miss St, Auburn aren’t that good, Auburn i’d say is an on the cusp top 25 team, but not the others, however, they’re given credit for “Big Wins” because of the bias that the conference is given within ranking these teams in the top 25. When In reality tex am, Lsu and Miss state should be ranked around 35-50 imo.
Lets look at Thier wins and losses
Mississippi state - “key wins” - LSU 37-7, losses - Georgia 31-3 & Aub - 49-10 and this late in the year, they were in a 4th Q battle with UMass, hows that not taken into account? UM’s close win to Air Force was taken into account...
Auburn - Wins - Miss State 49-10, Tex A&m doesnt count they lost to UCLA and are 5-4.
Losses - clemson 14-6 & LSU 27-23. Yet they’re 10th. They’re getting credit for losing to clemson by 8. Michigan gets no credit for losing to #12 MSU by 4 nor should we get dredit but neither should Auburn but they clearly are getting credit for rhat close loss to Clemson.
LSU - wins - Auburn 27-23, losses - Troy 24-21, Miss St 37-7 & Bama 24-10. They also beat Florida 17-16. LSU is TRASH but yet are ranked in the top 25, which gives teams like Bama and miss st “key wins” when in reality beating LSU is like beating Purdue imo.
So you can clearly see their rankings are bull, they give Auburn Credit for only losing to clemson by 8, where’s UM’s credit for a close loss to a high ranked team? Earlier this year UM fell in the rankings for only beating Air Force by 16, but did Miss state go down for struggling to beat UMass on Saturday and it going down to the final minutes of the 4th quarter? Nope.
Lasly the reason all the teams are given credit for a key win is because those SEC teams are vastly overrated. Just because they have a ranking next to their name doesn't mean they should actually be ranked or mean they’re a good team. I belive the committee does purposefully, so that they Can justify giving the Top SEC teams a high ranking so that they can say they have these “Key Wins” when in reality they arent key wins.
Im going to finish with this, the committee needs a set of rules and they have to relaese those rules to the public so that we can keep them accountable and they cant use their own biases to rank teams, for example yesterday they made it clear that “key wins” aka top 25 wins are the most important metric, well if thats the truth and has been the truth since they started the playoff rankings, then Michigan last year should have been a top 4 team at years end, Michigan had 3 top ten wins where Washington had 1, and our loss came to #2 OSU @ osu in OT with controversial refs, and dont gove me the Washington only had 1 loss as the comitteee ranks teams with 1 loss ahead of teams with no losses because of who they beat. I mention Michigan's loss as they (committee) obviously give credit to how you lose, who you lose to and where you lose it, see Auburn this year. Also as much as I dont like Notre Dame, they should be rated Higher than Alabama as Bama has 1 “top 25 win”, which really doesn’t count because everyone outside of the committee knows that LSU isnt a top 25 team, maybe around 40 to 50 would be an appropriate ranking. Clemson also should be ranked higher than Bama as both ND and Clemson have at least 3 top 25 wins, but its just the SEC Bias, Wisonsin and Miami both have a similar schedule and record to Bama, yet 1 school is ranked in the top 2 the other two are outside the top 6. Its easy to see that the committee cant be objective when it comes to ranking these teams and they CLEARLY have an SEC bias.
Sorry for the Length but its the truth. I could have gone on into more teams but I think you all get the point.
What say you? #GoBLUE!!
PS - while I dont really think or care that we werent ranked this week, however if Michigan goes into camp Randall and pulls off a win, the way the committee has been ranking teams and i’ve been following what has happened this season and in the past Michigan should vault into the top 9 (however I know they wont because of the bias I mentioned) but thats exactly where they should be ranked, because thats the type of leap other teams have taken after beating a team rated simiarly to what Wisconsin will be ranked, but only When beating a top team, and as long as said team has the same amount of losses or 1 more loss. I mean only if Wisc beats #25Iowa saturday and moves into the top 6 with losses from the TCUvsOK and NDvsMia games.
ILL GIVE A DOUBLE P.S - SOME PROPLE DONT READ THE WHOLE POST, THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MICHIGAN REALLY, I DONT CARE THAT UM ISNT TOP 25, THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE COMMITTEE RANKING CERTAIN TEAMS HIGHER (SEC) WHICH HELPS THE TOP TEAMS IN SEC - BECAUSE THE COUNTRY SEES THEM AS HAVING A KEY WIN, WHEN IN ACTUALITY THOSE SEC TEAMS RANKED FROM 10-24 ARENT GOOD AND HIGHLY OVERRATED & THOSE REALLY AREN'T KEY WINS. Do research before you respond & then tell me I don’t have a point.
