This only makes sense if there are more dominoes...

Two Los Angeles teams joining a conference where their closest opponent is 1500 miles and 2 times zones away in Lincoln is nonsensical. A travel nightmare. And completely detonates the parochial brand of the college product.

Here's what I think the next dominoes are...

Stanford and Notre Dame join them.

Having USC and Stanford in the conference changes the calculus for ND. And this leaves 3 California teams at least.

B1G West: USC, UCLA, Stanford, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Notre Dame
B1G East: Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Maryland, Rutgers

We've pretty well solved the "weak West" problem. West is stronger now. 8 divisional games, 2 crossovers, 2 non-conference.

What happens next, I think, is the dissolution of the Big 12.

Pac 12 West: Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Cal, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, BYU
Pac 12 East: Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Houston, TCU, SMU

That's their 18-teamer.

West Virginia, Cincinnati and UCF land in the ACC (along with Memphis) for an 18 of...

ACC North: Syracuse, Boston College, Pitt, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Louisville, Cincinnati, Memphis
ACC South: Miami, FSU, UCF, Georgia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, NC State.

The SEC stands pat.
