Interesting point actually. It did look like UM wanted to play and
was playing hard. That being said...I do understand looking at the entire season and injuries are part of the equation for all teams. It's more of a unbiased way to look at all the participants.
I am starting to think the NIT wanted to keep the perception that it only took teams that had decent years rather than get criticized that UM was just for $$$. I think we agree that the NIT could have explained away Illinois or UM but see the other side of the coin...a mediocre record.
It's a reasonable decision by the NIT committee.
