touted coming to UM. Someone said the #2 rated ILB...Under Armour All-American.

Wow. Talk about a serious bust. He started but he played like a 2 star. How about those recruiting gurus huh?

This could have been coaching but Ezeh was the worst inside lb'er I had seen at UM. He wasn't too bad early so something tells Robinson got ahold of him and that had something to do with it. Bolden is right behind him.

Morgan was solid albeit not great. Ross is undersized and hasn't lived up the rankings. Surprise again? Dymonte Thomas who isn't a linebacker...contributing but not as good as the rankings...surprise surprise.

Mario was about how he was ranked. Amazing how UM has had so many overrated recruits. Not a surprise.

One last thing...I see Schofield on television...was he part of the Carr classes? What the heck happened. It would one thing if Hoke thought they were good but another when recruiting sites think highly of guys who haven't panned out anywhere near their supposed ceiling.

I believe Ezeh was on some freshman AA (or at least All B1G) teams. By his Sr year, he was completely worthless. Bolden seemed like he might turn into a decent player, but probably made 0 plays this year. Constantly got dragged for 3-4 yards even when he made the tackle.

Well Hoke is where all talent went to get worse. 5-star kids have to be coached and Hoke did not know how to do that so kids ended up with poor technique, form, etc and those habits become harder to change as you grow older. Just look at your least fav player - Gardner. He was a good QB in 2013 and then he just became terrible. Players should improve not regress. Every single player in 2014 regressed including Jake Ryan. That has everything to do with player development and coaching.

AGP. Under Clappy, almost every player was as good as they would ever be when they first walked on campus. But it takes 5 or 6 years to "build a program".

It is true that Gardner is one of my least favorite players and Hoke/Borges don't do a lot of a coaching which actually may be good.

That said...Rudock would have played over Gardner under Harbaugh and Gardner would have been moved to wr.

I don't buy that for a second - Gardner would have played QB. I know you have a massive bias when it comes to Gardner. Look at his stats in 2013 and put them up against any QB. Look especially at what he did in the 8 BIG games and you tell me that he was a terrible QB - higher yards/game, QBR rating, TDs, etc then any quarterback in UM history not named Navarre. And he did that with Roundtree and Gallon as his WRs - not what you call burners!

Still in denial Tarun.

Gardner can't throw a lick. Could he have been developed under Harbaugh? Sure but he would have been moved. He (Gardner) had too many flaws a passing qb's. Rudock was better and he was definitely better under a Harbaugh system. Didn't Rudock beat Gardner in Iowa City? Can't recall.

Ok, let's use your logic in that case:
Iowa State and Maryland both beat Iowa last year - which means that both their QBs are way better then Rudock, since both those QBs beat Rudock. Ever heard of either of them because I have not? Why because they both suck. Clearly in your mind QBs are playing against each other.

Maybe in Madden football there may be a mode where QBs play against each other so who knows what warped games you watch but I have never seen that happen.

Here's a 8 game BIG 2013 stats for you:

Gardner in 2013 BIG games:

2,159 passing yards, 14 passing TDs, 3 INTs, 6 rushing TDs, 182 rushing yards with a well over 60% completion percentage

Rudock on the other hand in BIG 2013 games:

1,538 passing yards, 13 passing TDs, 10 INTs (not a typo), 130 rushing yards, no TDs

Who had the better year??? Rudock??? If you answer is Rudock, you really need help.

Feel free to name me any QB in 2013 that played better in the BIG then Gardner. Oh and Gardner lost to Braxton that year and I can guarantee you he is a 10x better QB then Braxton but not sure why H2H matters with QBs. Seriously, go do your research, go read your 500 blogs that provide useless information and feel free to tell me who else did better.

Feel free to quadruple check my stats there buddy. Let me know when you can use your own calculations as opposed to random blogs but I am disengaging from this conversation with you because it's like banging my head of a brick wall!

Connor Cook threw for 2755 yds 22 TD and 6 int. I'd say he was better than Gardner in 2013

When you learn to read feel free to jump into the discussion. The stats quoted were for 8 BIG games, not the entire season and this conversation was not about Cook - nobody on this board is going to disagree with the premise that Cook is a very very good QB that is in the upper echelon.

80% of Cooks stats were BIG stats. He didn't start full time until the ND game. I read just fine. Don't let your arrogance get in the way

If you "read just fine" then you will know that the context was not about Cook but rather the question was if "Gardner was terrible or not". It has no relevance to Cook whatsoever. Speaking of arrogance, don't let your love for your team and desire to mention Cook everytime get in the way either. Like I said, nobody is going to argue about how good a QB is - he is in a different league. This was more about "was Gardner terrible".
