LOVED

  • Certainly, the poise that Joe showed last night has to be top of list. Didn't see that coming. Certainly, physical dominance comes with a certain level of confidence. This schedule gets crazy difficult after next week, but I feel much better about our chances with this one alone.
  • Adaptability - Eubanks out? No problem. Jersey change for Honigford and we have a new blocking TE. Dax goes down? We adjust with a variety of looks, including CBs playing in FS spots.
  • OL - anyone see that performance coming? Our two least experienced (game), players may have had best game.
  • Speed on D - KHudson ran a 4.5 at combine and I think we've upgraded that position speed-wise. Crazy. No one got behind our DBs and the pursuit given across board was crazy good.
WANT TO SEE

  • Been harping on this for a while. Biggest difference between Don Brown's first D and the subsequent 4 is rotation. In 2016, he had a regular rotation of 8 guys, which kept them fresh and allowed front 4 to be disruptive. Starting in 2017, our DE's have played way too many snaps. Happened again last night. Hutch and Paye can be much more effective with a better rotation.
  • Loved the creativity of the Defensive schemes. However, putting a true freshman FS in a position to be responsible for contain didn't make much sense to me.
  • Everyone was clamoring for better play from DT's last night with Run Game. Were they effective? No. Need to play lower and get off blocks better. But to me it went deeper. Playing a heavy RPO team was a factor. LB lane assignments were a factor. Playing a great TB was a factor. Needs to be cleaned up.
