It put doubt in my head. Up until this game I thought Harbaugh had it figured out and the offense would come around. Truthfully, I wasn't all that worried.
Now?
Well now I'm...Let's just say, I'm "more concerned." Here is a short list of my concerns. All of them fall on the offensive side of the ball.
1. Meritocracy among the coaches. Is it a real thing for the coaches or has he let relationships affect who's here, and who's not?
2. Delegation. Because of his busy schedule and marketing obligations has Harbaugh had to delegate more responsibility to others in the program?
3. Recruiting. Getting the top kids in the country to consistently come to UM. While JH has been VERY successful on the recruiting trail it seems more times than not that if OSU or Bama want a kid we want, they win the majority of those battles. Not every battle, but a majority. We need difference makers like Peppers and Gary in every class. We could use a kid like Nagee this year.
4. Intensity. MSU just seemed like they were on a mission to find a way, and they did. I know the NCAA is trying to clamp down on coaching sideline behavior, but Jim's fiery personality translates to the team and can do wonders when the team is struggling. I don't much like the new prozac Jim.
5. Development. I think coaches are human and part of some humans is stubbornness. Is the system to complicated? I don't know. I just know the O-line keeps making the same mistakes over and over.
Let me be clear, none of the things I have listed may be issues at all. I'm a fan not an insider so I have no idea what goes on behind closed doors, but it's kind of like opening your refrigerator and smelling something that's gone bad. You know something's not right but, you have to look deeper to find the cause. If you don't take care of it, it will ruin the rest of the stuff in the fridge.
Jim's a smart guy and I believe him when he says he wants to win more than anything. I hope he comes up with a quick fix for the offense this week. I mean, who's happy with this offense? Noooobody.
