GREATLY.
Ignore this if you want, but as a Christian I just feel the need to vent a bit.
I could be totally off on this one, but I do not buy the narrative that they just slipped in their transgressions and that it could happen to anyone because we are all human.
Call me jaded, but I believe both guys carefully planned out a discourse that they were these incredible "Godly men", intending that they would be insulated against charges of cheating that would almost-certainly be leveled against them at some point. No, I believe the intent to cheat was there all along...and the "Upright Christian man" story is just that: a story.
These guys (and others) know they are dirty. Tressel cheated at Youngstown State before coming to OSU and Freeze was cheating almost the moment he stepped onto the Ole Miss campus (Treadwell, Tunsil et al was what, his 1st or 2nd year there?).
It just angers me seeing the extent that the wolves will use sheep's clothing to try to get away with even more, expecting (or knowing) that armies of well-meaning fans and unknowing Christians in general will staunchly defend them because of their "Man of God" public persona.
Do I understand the tactic? Yes. Do I like it? Not one bit. I hate it, since it denigrates and gives a bad name to ALL Christian men as being hypocrites.
Sure, we are all human and all make mistakes. But my gripe is that, IMO, this was an intentional "cover story" put out there as a smokescreen by these weasels.
And I hate it.
Grrrr....
