The Targeting rule needs a serious revamp

It has become just ridiculous. How can Hudson's hit be called "targeting"? It is clear that he did not intentionally try to hit the opponent in the head...he even turned to avoid such contact. He was making the tackle at the same level as the ball carrier so it is difficult to make a play without some contact between helmets.

Lineman make helmet contact on almost every play.

Why should a player be ejected from a game for doing something clearly unintentionally?

And the officials have no ability to judge a play in the context of the speed of the game. And they almost always back up the call on the field, like a judge supports the side of the police.

Soon there is going to be an All-American ejected from a national championship game on an excuse-me type of play.
