I think the things at the core of every genuine upset in sports are BELIEF and EMOTIONAL COMMITMENT

Yesterday
Mississippi State (6-7 last year) beat LSU (15-0) in Death Valley
Kansas State (8-5 Last year) beat Oklahoma (12-2 last year) In Norman Okla.
On paper there is no way either of theses games should be competitive.
The powerful nationally ranked HOME teams were heavily favored against supposedly mediocre teams.
WHY did these upsets occur?: The other teams were more EMOTIONALLY prepared to play and win.

A Dangerous Team
It is a dangerous team that BELIEVES that they are better prepared, more capable and ready to punch the other guy in the nose and win the game.
It is a dangerous team that thinks they have a powerful EMOTIONAL REASON to fight like hell out there.

Players LOVE coaches who get them to BELIEVE
Players LOVE playing for a coach that can get them to authentically believe in themselves and gives them a powerful emotional reason to fight like hell.
In the Big Ten today you could argue that Ryan Day and P.J. Fleck are among the best at that.

WARNING
Jim Harbaugh and our coaching staff better have our team at an EMOTIONAL PEAK or we will get beat by much lesser talent
I promise you that P.J. Flecks team will be emotionally jacked through the roof when we meet them on October 24th. They THINK they are going to win.

What do YOU think?
