UPDATE Friday, 5/6:
Softball romps Rutgers 9-1
Baseball does even better beating Rutgers 14-1
Women's water polo is 29-6 on the year and ranked #5 in the nation. They just won the CWPA Championship with a 9-2 final victory over #14 Indiana. The team was one of 8 invited to the NCAA Championship where they first take on #4 Arizona State a week from Friday. The two teams met earlier this year with ASU winning 8-5 in Tempe. That was our last loss; we've won 13 in a row.
Baseball, ranked #21, is coming off a 12-0 win over EMU. The Wolverines lost 2 of 3 last weekend to MSU to fall to 9-5 in conference and 4th place behind 11-3 Minnesota. The team is hitting .311 on the season, behind only Minnesota at .332 and has a team ERA of 3.57, good for fifth in the B1G.
Men's golf made the NCAA tourney and opens May 16 against Vanderbilt in Franklin, TN. The team finished 4th at the B1G Championships.
Men's gymnastics finished ranked #11 (curiously, that put them 7th in the Big Ten ... the conference is pretty good in this sport, though Oklahoma repeated as national champs).
Women's gymnastics finished ranked #7, but fell in the NCAA regionals.
Men's lacrosse went 3-10 on the year, dropping their last 8. The women are 6-11 (0-5 in conference) and kick off the B1G tourney today.
Men's tennis is 20-7 and finished 8-3 in conference, good for 3rd place. They kick off May 13 at the NCAA regionals versus ETSU. The men are ranked #24.
Women's tennis is 20-6 and finished 2nd in the Big Ten with a 10-1 record. The #11 ranked ladies start NCAA regionals May 13.
In indoor track, the women ranked #8 and the men were not ranked. Neither team is ranked in outdoor track and field.
We rank 10th in rowing with the B1G Championships weekend after next.
Finally, softball hosts Rutgers this weekend. The team is 41-4 on the season, riding a 14-game winning streak. The #2 ranked ladies are 18-2 in conference, just ahead of 16-3 Minnesota with 3 games left.
