Are we becoming more and more like Norte Dame? The promise of a championship season...Next year?

I understand the challenges of modern day college FB but here we go again. While the Bama juggernaut continues to roll along and Kirby Smart has dramatically turned GA around in year two, we seem to be stuck in the not quite there yet mud.

I know there are not 5 stars growing on trees in Michigan but Harbaugh has an open checkbook to get all the coaches, facilities and accessories he needs to be successful.

Every time I hear we’re a year or two away I want to puke. Somewhere in the back of my head I hear Norte Dame fans chanting “return to glory.”

I confess, I don’t have the answers but I’m not making 9m a year to win at Michigan either.

To be honest, the product we have seen on the field this year on the offensive side of the ball is surprising?

I thought we’d have big improvement in o-line, the RB position and the QB. With all the options we have at TE I thought we’d have those guys way more involved.

Tonight was a perfect storm. You had bad weather, a motivated opponent, pathetic offensive line play, overall lousy execution and bizarre play calling.

We don’t have one receiver that can win 50/50 balls. We don’t have one go to back. We don’t have one QB that can be a difference maker. I’ve gotten to the point where if we have a sustained drive, I’m surprised. When we do have a big play, almost as often as not it results in a penalty or a turnover.

I think for the program to be in the state of uncertainty at this point in Harbaugh’s tenure is surprising. I’m surprised that MSU is more physical than we are. I’m surprised they are better coached and more motivated for this game than we are. I’m surprised there young lesser rated players play better than our young higher rated players. I wonder if Jim Harbaugh is surprised?

So what the heck is going on? Will this get fixed under Harbaugh or does the M in Michigan really stand for mediocre?

Tonight was a nut punch. This was not on the road at night in the cornfields of Iowa. This was home at night with a national audience and we embarrassed ourselves.

So far the program in the Harbaugh era has not won the big games it needs too. It hasn’t beaten its rivals and it has not had a whiff of the BIG championship.

All I’m saying is I’m surprised.
