I'm waiting for someone to suggest that we should have run the wishbone on fourth down with Smith having helmet flaps on his helmet like Billy Sims to help us win vs MSU. Or maybe we should've put in Alex Malzone or the other freshman quarterback burn the red shirt and let them take over the team on fourth down

That wouldn't have burned enough of the remaining ten seconds off the clock. A better idea would be to have Peppers be Little Ricky Leach and run the option offense with Kerridge in as Russel Davis, and Isaac as Harlan Huckleby. That would have moved the chains and burned the clock.

Winning.

I would have liked to see a play action fake or screen on 3rd down at the end of the game. Play for the win. Playing not to lose almost worked, but it backfired.

I know we're talking a humorous options here, but seriously, for years my theory is that around midfield when it's 4th & short (2 or less) you should ALWAYS go up to the line of scrimmage & hard count to try & draw the defense. What's 5 yards for delay if you're still punting from you own 40 or 45? Even if it doesn't work you've got that as your M.O., so the time you actually snap the ball you've got the D thinking all you're trying to do is draw them so you may be able to gain an advantage.

Yup. Not that it matters, but I put very little of the "blame" for the loss on the punter.
