"...the less likely it becomes that Jim Harbaugh returns to coach at Michigan in 2021 and beyond."
@ChrisBalas has been consistently reiterating some version of this message for probably at least a couple of weeks now, and it makes total sense to me intuitively.
And honestly: from this point onward, you have to figure it's even more true than ever, right? With NSD Part I in the rearview mirror, and the football season now over, there's truly nothing worth focusing on for either Jim or Warde at this point outside of getting the contract extension agreed upon, signed, and announced... IF it is in fact true that both parties are fully invested in bringing Jim back to Ann Arbor.
With every day that passes, I don't know how it can be taken as a sign of anything other than one of the following hypothetical scenarios being more and more likely to be actual reality:
Anyone care to disagree?

With every day that passes, I don't know how it can be taken as a sign of anything other than one of the following hypothetical scenarios being more and more likely to be actual reality:
- Jim wants to move on from Michigan to coach in the NFL, but doesn't want to resign until his new gig is secured.
- Warde doesn't want Jim back at Michigan, but is hoping Jim can land an NFL gig so that a pandemic era cash-strapped UMAD can be off the hook for the pricey buyout that would go along with actually firing Jim.
- Both of the above scenarios are true, and Jim and Warde are totally on the same page about trying to quietly initiate the cleanest possible breakup for all sides.
- Warde and Jim have only a lukewarm-at-best interest in making this work, and are therefore having a very difficult time finding mutually agreeable terms for a new deal.
Anyone care to disagree?
