The good and the bad...

After 2 games here's my take on where we are good and areas where I have major concerns:
The Good:
  • Ty Isaac has looked elusive and that bodes well for us. O-line needs to shore up a bit more though.
  • LBs look absolutely awesome as does the D-line, for the most part.
  • FG kicking looks good - Allen was clutch the later part of last year and I think we may better now.
  • TEs look great and deep. They will create some major matchup problems for teams.
The Bad
  • WRs (other then Perry) are just completely off on their routes. Either our QB is way off our WRs are off, either way they are not on the same page. If I were an opposing team, I stack the line and dare Michigan to beat me through the air.
  • Punter looks terrible...2 shanks against a terrible Cincy team is not going to cut it.
  • CBs are athletic but their youth shows - we were spectacular last year and these young kids will continue to improve. Too many times where they don't know how to turn around to look for the ball, etc. I know we had 2 INTs for TD but I think if we play a good throwing QB and WRs we would struggle.
Good news is that we don't play a solid offensive team (QB/WR combo) until Penn State so we have 6 weeks to keep improving. I had low expectations this year given the amount of youth on the team, but I will say this about this year's Michigan team through 2 games:
  • Future looks very very bright for us!
  • The overall discipline of this defense is fantastic - even better then last year. Very few plays where we overran and were in the wrong place.
