This series has always been defined by big time players making big time plays in big time games. This embarassing drought has been so painful for all of us, but what it really boils down to is that their stars have stepped up in The Game and ours simply haven’t. During the drought these games have actually been more competitive than the talent level has suggested, if we’re being honest.
Fast forward to Saturday. We finally have the superior talent, BUT as we approach The Game.....Nothing has changed. The reason we haven’t closed the deal is we haven’t had true superstars step up when the game is on the line.
This brings me to my question. In a roster full of superstars and playmakers...... who is gonna cement their legacy in the Michigan Man memory banks? Obviously Shea is the first one to come to mind and I agree that he has the “it” factor to be that guy, but there is gonna be a less obvious “hero” that we look back on like Charles and Desmond. In my mind, it’s gonna be DPJ. He’s a Michigan kid that most certainly gets “The Game”. He’s a baller and incredibly gifted. I think he goes off!!! My 2nd choice is more obvious and it’s Devin. He is a bad man. I look for him to have multiple “impact” plays and solidify his legacy as one of the best if not the best MLB we have EVER had at our proud University.
At the end of the day, I don’t care who steps up, but I know that if we are going to leave that cesspool w/ a victory, we are going to need our superstars to step up and be “hereos”.
Let’s win this f*ing game and put ALL these demons to bed for once and for all.
We will celebrate Saturday afternoon because karma is real and you know what? Even in this crazy world we live in......Good sometimes does beat evil.
