The Game has Changed
This spring the game of college football has been changed forever in ways we have not yet begun to fully understand.
The Earthquake: Two Rule Changes
1. PORTAL: The NCAA Ruled that there is a One-Time, Universal, Free Portal Transfer with immediate eligibility. The Portal is about to go TURBO.
2. NIL: Name, Image and Likeness (NIL): With a Supreme Court ruling this June, Rapidly the rules will change to allow college athletes to get paid LEGALLY. I hate it but its HERE.
TRUTH: If Michigan wants to jump into the tier of Top-5 Programs, Michigan is ideally positioned to exploit these two changes and must do so very quickly.
NIL: Create the biggest, most lucrative and sophisticated Brand Building program in college sports. Get financial backers, Hire a team of top professionals, a top sports marketing agency with a program to market Michigan athletes. Get Tom Brady involved. Throw millions of dollars into this program. Shock and Awe.
PORTAL: Build a team of people whose sole job is to actively and directly (legally) recruit players off of every other college team. Practically advertise openings and opportunities on the Michigan roster. Use recruits, high school coaches, social media and marketers to contact great athletes at other schools. Virtual visits. The NCAA is not going to do sh*t about this. They are going to get run over by the truck.
A Narrow Window: Must Act Now
This will mature quickly and shift the fortunes of programs quickly. In perhaps 18 months the landscape of college football will be reset.
NOW: Warde Manuel and Harbaugh and some big donors needs to put together this program very quickly. Fund it, Hire People and get moving.
My FEAR: I'm going to be physically Ill if I watch others (OSU, MSU, ND, PSU, etc.) jump into this bigger, better and faster than Michigan does, while we are jacking around "studying" this.
Am I crazy?
