Well it’s good to see all the complainers jump on board on a Friday night. I said this earlier , but many were complaining when Mo was hired as many not only had never heard of him , but wondered why we would go after a guy with Dallas and not really a , “ Midwest guy “. Mo was in Dallas 1 year after being at Texas A&M for 2 years. The guy is 36 and has been also at Iowa State , Miss State and Minnesota besides Buffalo. He clearly moves around. EJ was really the one that touted Mo’s recruiting ability and he was right. The guy clearly can recruit. But to listen to so many tonight whine and complain about , Harbaugh losing another assistant “ and “ where is the loyalty “ etc is mind boggling. The guy took a head coaching job at a program he had coached at , is a young rising star and clearly has been noticed nationally. So what’s the big surprise and how is this Jim’s fault ?
Now he clearly could have showed some decency and let Will and Kody know , but it is what it is. Now it’s up to Jim to get on the phone and get another good recruiter as well as a solid coach . But face it ..... you hire really good coaches and they will leave. Look how many OC’s Saban has lost. Oh and before you all go nuts no I am not comparing Jim to Nick Saban at the college level. But this board just needs something to bitch about with football. Hell I get it that nobody is happy and yes it’s a tough break. BUT if Will leaves because Mo left then he really wasn’t “ all in for Michigan “ like he proclaimed. I get the Kody concern as yes he was more of a Mo kid recruit wise. But as some have said , we are in for a lot of good kids and all of EJ’s comments about Walter Nolen have mentioned how the kid has family in Detroit , his Mother is quoted as saying she loves AA , is fine with Walter going to Michigan , and would be thrilled for the family to be able to be so close to AA to see him. None of that is about Mo .
These kids are all high quality kids and players and teams are going to recruit them right up until the LOI hits the fax machine. Clearing losing Mo Linguist is a bad break. It’s not going to help Jim or recruiting. BUT can we just give Jim the chance to see who he replaces him with before we go off the deep end once again ? But I guess that’s way to much to ask of this Board . I for one am going to hope we get a good young replacement and believe that Will wants to go to Michigan , will get over his disappointment and continue recruiting like hell for Michigan along with the new coach.
