tie the game and play against a new qb in OT.

Stupid call. UM got a gift from the football God's for last week. Stupid stupid call.

Dumb. Stupid. Idiotic. Against a good defense in the red zone? Stupid.

Your right go for the tie. And make the young QB win it in OT. Stupid play call but we will take the win.

...yeah, they had to play for OT...at home w/ an experienced QB for Michigan, got to like their chances. Emotion factored in for U-m...we made the big play at the end! Thank goodness!!

It wasn't his first stupid call. At the end of the first half he failed to throw a pass into the end zone with 14 seconds left and a Time Out in his pocket. Not a sharp tool for sure!

That is true. Couldn't figure out why he was settling for a fg with a down in his pocket the same I couldn't figure out why a poster on this board wanted Harbaugh to punt at the Minny 37 with a minute left.

Play to win. This isn't Lloyd Ball.

The play call on 1st down was worse than going for the win. 19 seconds 1st and goal from the 1 with the clock running and they run a multiple shift, motion pass play that takes 17 seconds? - lolololololololol

Man you run the ball on 1st down. If you don't get in you use your timeout with 10-12 second left. You have 2 more shots at the end zone passing and you can tie the game on 4th down with a FG.

Idiotic play calling and clock management.

Absolutely. Going for the win is an acceptable gamble. Blowing the 2nd to last play and leaving your team in the position that it was is stupid.

I would say the Minny coaches did a much bigger choke than the Mich punter.

The coaches did choke it and yes...the re-setting of the wr's and line was a dumb call. Should have rolled out and passed or ran and then used the TO if clock is still running. Pass on 2nd down and probably if stopped could have spiked and then kicked.

That being said...it was dumb to go for it on 2nd down. That was dumb coaching. Here is why. Yes you are going for the win but you are also going for the loss. It's tough to score down inside the 5 yard line whether you are throwing or running. Lot's of defenders. You only need a 1/2 yard but going up against a stout defensive line. See the play before.

A good coach would have stepped back and said there is significant risk by going for it whereas a fg ties it up and Minny has the advantage against a backup UM qb and at home.

Here is the difference. If UM was scoring with a very good qb/run game and Minny couldn't stop UM...by all means go for the win but anybody watching that game could tell you that Minny could stop UM on offense and could score on UM on offense.

The better team was Minny last night with or without Speight. The Minny coach lost perspective. This is what separates a lot of coaches. He panicked. Was it the worst call ever?...now. But it was a rash call and as someone said before...his end of the 1st half call was poor.

There was a UM poster criticizing Harbaugh for going for the 4th down at the end of the 1st half. That was a smart call. Look at each decision within a context of probabilities and I think you can tell the good coaches from the not so good coaches.

Want to see an example of a good coach. See Durkin. He knew Minny liked to run that play and he knew they were within the sneak range so he played the percentages. See how this works. UM played the percentages and Minny went against the percentages.

I can understand going for the win. It was their time management that was horrible. They should have easily had time to run two, if not three, plays and THEN kick a FG if necessary. Instead they wasted so much time on first down that they only had time for two plays.

AGP. Jerry Kill Jr's clock management showed his inexperience in being a head coach. I wonder if Minny fans are lauding the boldness of going for it or berating him for not kicking for the tie and taking his chances in OT.

Their time management was awful but they compounded the problem by making it a one play game against an alignment set up to stop the sneak vs. taking the game into OT against a backup qb at home.

Both mistakes. The time management was arguably the biggest mistake. Going for the win is all well and good but you can even the playing field and go for the win in OT. Instead of making it a one play game...make it a 10 play game because Minny was better last night, was at home and had the better qb and run game.

I would make what Minny did the equivalent of doubling down on a hand of 17 when the house was showing a 7 card.

Even with the time management...they still go to OT with the upper hand. They should have cut their losses so to speak and played for another day.

Dumbest move by a coach since Hoke went for 2 vs OSU two years ago.

thats not really true about their chances in overtime. michigan has one of the best red zone scoring teams in the nation. while even teams that had some success against michigans defense had a very difficult time moving the ball inside of the 25 yard line.
