That loss for NC State was even worse than it appeared for them

If NC State had just managed to win tonight...a home game against a below .500 team, then they were basically assured a top 10 finish. Their last 3 games after tonight would have been against teams with a combined 5 wins on the season. Just based on other teams losing, they would have probably ended up somewhere between 8-10 and in position for a primo bowl game.

Plus, that would've given Clemson more cover if they slipped up and lost a game. "But hey, we beat a top 10 team by over 30 points. We deserve to be in the playoffs," would be their argument. Now NC State's dream season and Clemson's marquee win are down the drain...all because NC St. couldn't win a home game against a bad team whose QB was making his first ever career start. Oops.
