Ditka. I interpreted his comment about the 7 def guys vs. 9 on offense as a reflection of how impressive the defense was against the offense. I can't tell you who the starters were on the other side but it doesn't surprise me.
I would personally go to a slight qb rotation system. Meaning one of the guys get's a 1/4 of football during the first 1/4 of the season and keep the competition going. Extend it. I know the formal announcement will be a long term starter but I don't think that will be etched in stone. It will be for PR purposes and/or confidence for the starter.
What happens if starter is graded out at .89 and backup is .88. Does that mean in a month that same difference will be in effect? I know I am in the extreme minority but just my .02 cts.
