Fellow Forters, since our cruise at Thanksgiving was cancelled, the wife mentioned going to Gulf Shores for the week with the kids (6 and 9) and in-laws. I have never been there outside of the peak summer months. I was wondering if anyone has any insight to whether the weather, and more importantly water, is warm enough for the kids to play on the beach. @bama blue, any insight/tips?
Any other ideas for a trip for the week is welcomed? Whatever it would be, we would want it to be within driving distance of Houston (12 hours max)
