Looks like I am going to be bunkering for our own long nuclear winter of discontent. My family must love me because I got many sympathy texts. Last time this happened, the Hoke regime was at its bottom. (editors note: this is actually worse as Harbaugh was our solution to bring us to relevancy, not make Michigan Football a laughing stock)
Observations:
1. Jim's personality has changed since 2016. Flat out. No question. And the changes are being seen in the team's play, attitude, bowl opt outs, staff opt outs, and more. You are free to disagree on item 1. My own lyin eyes tell me what I see. Give me another reason why our guys don't appear to play with energy, focus, or teamwork.
2. Don Brown has been exposed and everyone knows how to crush his D. No pass rush + corners on islands means he gave Rocky Lombardi his lifetime QB experience before he finishes his career as a backup tight-end at MSU.
3. As much as I hate to say it, losing Mattisson hurt us deeply. Jim has made choices on his staff (Fisch vs. Drevno, Brown v. Mattisson) that seem to have hurt his team badly (all IMO)
4. We can point to injuries and Ambry not opting out. But Harbaugh's arc is in steep decline. Has been for a while. Now he is in free fall.
That version of Harbaugh who punked USC and the NFL and was willing to do anything to win, is long gone.
This version of Harbaugh I would not have hired. Do you give an extension to a guy who hangs his hat on our ability to graduate kids? You don't play 9M per year for a nice APR.
Forget Big 10 titles. How about we just field a team that doesn't remind me of the lowest moments of Rich Rod and Hoke.
Leaders and best? I am searching for what those words mean in our athletic department.
