I'm going to (mostly) skip the Airing of Grievances and revisiting all of the issues raised by the more timid elements and skip straight to . . .
And for our brothers and sisters in Michigan who have to deal with Sparties year round, have a GREAT week at work.
Finally, a little traveling music to bridge Improvement Week and for our friends in Creepy Valley:
- Mrs. V is upset because she didn't recognize that DPJ was striking the Paul Bunyan pose. She feels that her familiarity with football references is lacking. She vows to do better, although she's still upset that Michigan discontinued the wive's camp. That was on her bucket list.
- Mrs. V.: "Chase is my boy. 'I'm not sorry for ANYTHING.' Exactly. That's the kind of attitude Michigan needs. 'That's right, we're Michigan and you're Michigan State.' What's wrong with these Michigan fans who think Chase shouldn't have said that?"
- We are seeing where Harbaugh can take this program with a solid and improving OL play and a good QB. This program is on the rise. As long as we keep Ed Warriner and Don Brown we're gonna be in tall cotton.
- I'm still concerned about the inability to get consistent separation in the passing game and the amount of time our stuff takes to develop downfield, but every time I think about that now I have this beautiful image of DPJ streaking down the sidelines and Shea driving the ball straight to him.
- Dantonio is gonna be the Assistant AD in charge of Playing Golf with Donors in 2 years.
- There is a LOT of work that can be done on offense. That's good news. I'd like to see us use improvement week to see if we can improve the screen game. Purdue killed Schiano's D with that last night.
- More and more I think it makes sense for Shea to stay another year. Not only will he improve, but the team is going to improve around him and the staff is going to evolve the offense.
- Josh Uche. Oh my. With as raw as he is, I honestly look at that guy and wonder if he can't be another Vonn Miller.
- That said, Rashan Gary is an every-down player who is an elite run-stopper. We need him on the field for the stretch run.
- I totally understand pointing to the issues with FG kicking, failure to convert in the red zone, and the fact that we haven't played stellar QBs yet (understanding that Thorson is pretty good). I think people who are pointing to those issues are overstating them and missing the big picture. Namely, Michigan went to EL and unmistakably, indisputably, dominated both lines. On top of that, they had a stretch during the game when other Michigan teams would've found a way to lose. This one didn't. They persevered and closed it out strong.
- We have not seen this team's best football.
- PSU loses by two scores to Iowa and Franklin's insecurities seep into his team's psyche that much more deeply. We're gonna roll them, 2016 style.
