Well, he does hate us...the man has turned the program around big time at MSU. As much as Izzo is loved there, he whines like a baby...not Dantonio. The more he wins, the more I respect him. I've been a season ticket holder for 40 years...believe me, I hated OSU but when you beat Woody...absolutely HEAVEN! Same w/ Dantonio...he's changed the face of MSU football and deserves all the credit. I want to beat him in the most way...more than Urban!
With what he has been able to do at Michigan State. You could make a good argument MD is the best college football coach in the country.
Part of being a college football coach is also your ability to recruit, etc. Dantonio has proved himself to be a great coach but being a coach in college football requires the ability to attract great players, developing players, and then preparing them. I personally think JH is a Top 5 coach in the country - Pro or College. However, moving him aside since this is first college season in a while, I would still go with the following rankings:
- Urban Meyer (just look at what he has done the past 4 years)
- Nick Saban (consistent and gets the best of the best)
- Art Briles (his teams consistently compete without Top 10 classes)
- Dantonio (does the most with the least, no doubt)
- Gary Paterson
Really??? He's been nothing but classless since the Mike Hart incident and how he's handled player discipline from day one.
Outside of the Winston and hockey fights he has been pretty good with discipline compared to most programs in the country. Those incidents occurred 6+ years ago and it seems nothing major has happened since but I may be forgetting something.
The harder you work, the luckier you get. Funny how that works out.
BTW, and I'm not trying to get under anyone's skin here, but MSU played UM in AA and OSU in C-Bus. In those games, UM's and OSU's O's combined for a total of 360 yards and 15 first downs.
Of which you won by a grand total of 6 points.
But I get your point and you are correct - they are both road wins, so that makes them doubly impressive.
He is a good coach period. But!! He was beaten by Harbaugh this year and he knows his upcoming appearance in the BTN title game is merely from a kid dropping a football. Michigan right now under Harbaugh and what he has done this year is proof that UM is going to be a monster each and every year now. Especially when he has three years of recruits.
Well, TBH, he never led in either game til the last play of the game, lol. Yep, a win is a win. It ain't over til the fat lady sings and 000 on the clock. That's what makes them champs...
Makes me want to vomit the thought of them going to the playoffs. My worst nightmare as Michigan fan seeing MSU football and hoops not only be good at the same time, but great and national title contenders at the same time. Someone put an end to this nightmare.
I never thought MSU football as of 4 years ago would be an NC threat with Dantonio. I thought they would be a good solid top 15 program, but I never envisioned the nightmare where they would be an NC threat and to add insult to injury their hoops program has been that forever.
When is our turn to be great and a national title contender in both football and hoops at the same time. I have never seen it in my lifetime being only 31 years old. Only time I ever saw it in football was 1997-98 season and i basketball in 2012-2013. And both were years apart from each other.
