Stat Junkie Stuff – 2015 NFL Draft
I am working on a longer post regarding the 2015 NFL draft. I have matched up every player in the 2015 NFL draft with the Rivals database or other recruiting databases. In some cases there are guys drafted for whom there is NO record of them in any recruiting database. ESPN, RIVALS, SCOUT, 247. Nothing. I am comparing this data to Stars, to Position Rankings, Top 100, Top 250, to Geography, and positions.
I am dredging through lots of data and looking for patterns and trends
More to come but here are two tidbits:
TIDBIT #1
Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale - This legendary high school that has won several national titles had three players drafted from their SAME 2011 team. They had BOTH of the wide receivers on that team were drafted. Phillip Dorsett (WR) , Rashad Greene (WR), Bobby Hart (OG)
They did not win the national championship in 2011, but they did in 2010
The 2011 team had 10 players rated 2- Stars of better, 3 4-Stars, 2 3-Stars and 5 2-Stars
The quarterback on that team? Jake Rudock, 3-Star, the 29th rated Pro-style QB in 2011
TIDBIT #2
According to the populations in the 2010 census and the high school graduation state of the 2015 NFL draftees:
In Georgia, a state with over 9 million people, one person out of every 322,000 people was drafted into the NFL in 2015 (densest with NFL talent of ANY state)
In Michigan, a state with over 9 Million people, one person out of every 1.6 million people was drafted into the NFL in 2015
In New York, a state with over 19 Million people, one person out of every 9.7 Million people was drafted into the NFL in 2015
